What Is Included In A Caravan Service?

A caravan service involves checking and servicing many parts of the caravan, including the chassis, brakes, wheels, and electrical systems. It also includes a check for damp and water ingress. The following list is not exhaustive, in fact over 50 things are checked.

What’s checked 

  • Chassis: Checking the functionality of the chassis, suspension, hand brake, hitch, breakaway cable
  • Water System: Checking pump, waste pipes, toilet, taps, pressure system or microswitched
  • Brakes: Cleaning, deglazing, adjusting, and reassembling the braking system
  • Wheels: Checking the wheel bearings and tyres
  • Lights: Checking the road lights and cables
  • Gas: Checking the gas system for tightness, flame failure devices, and carbon monoxide leaks from the room-sealed appliances
  • Damp: Checking for damp and water ingress in every nook and cranny
  • Windows and doors: Checking the windows and doors, seals, acrylic glazing failure, locks lubricating, roof lights for damage and security
  • Bodywork: Checking the bodywork for wear and cracks
  • Electrical System: Checking the 12v and 240v electrical systems for faults and damage, checking the safety of the earth bonding and RCD trip times, ensuring all appliances are functioning as they should using a clamp meter to note amperage, checking the 12n & 12s leads function correctly including the charging function, battery condition

The Camping and Caravanning Club, NCC, and MCEA recommend annual servicing by a properly qualified expert.
